The state of NC requires permits and inspections to assure that the irrigation system meets all state and local specifications and codes. Additionally, a new NC law requiring a separate irrigation meter, when connected to city water (for properties plotted after July 2009) to be installed by the utility department for new irrigation systems is in place (all irrigation systems installed after 7/1/2009 unless plotted prior to 7/1/2009).
